The Open Sea - Reflection Technique

I have a couple more masculine projects from our last demonstrator swap.  The first one was made by Mary B. and features "The Open Sea" stamp set from pg. 84 in the Annual Catalog.  Mary used the reflection technique which is very cool.  You can use a window sheet for this or the plastic square from the "Stamp-a-ma-jig" (pg. 176).

Lynn B. made the mans' wallet!  It features a belly band that will slip on and off.  The Decorative Dots Embossing Folder was used to texture the "wallet".  Thanks to Mary and Lynn for the great masculine ideas!

Thanks for blogging with me today!  Lori

The Open Sea & Paper Pumpkin Kits at Class

Sorry I took a day off from blogging yesterday (had two classes this week so was prepping for those). Anyway, at both these classes I featured a different Paper Pumpkin Kit.  At a class in Knoxville IL, the gals got to pick one card or the other as a Make-N-Take.   At the class in Morton tonight, the Paper Pumpkin Kit consisted of a birthday card and a gift bag.  I think everyone enjoyed the kits & please see below pics for those projects.

Remember, the Paper Pumpkin subscriptions are on sale right now.  Instead of $19.95 a month like normal, you can sign up for 2 months at $19.95! (first time subscribers only). What a great price to try out this program, and that special runs until Sept. 10th.  We got a sneak peek of the Sept. & Oct. Kits at Convention and they are fabulous!  If you subscribe before August 10th, you will be getting those 2 months when your Paper Pumpkins arrive during back to back months.  Go to paperpumpkin.com to check it out, or my website at:  www.createwithlori.stampinup.net   If you do wish to sign up, please use my name as your demonstrator and don't be afraid to contact me if you have a problem or questions.

The masculine card below was made by Terese Burdette (a demo in our Stray Ducklings Group).  She used the stamp set called "The Open Sea" along with some "Burlap Ribbon".  Thanks Terese for participating in the swap & coming to our mtg. the other day.......appreciate your inspiration too!

I appreciate YOU as well for stopping by.  Thanks- Lori

The Open Sea & Sheltering Tree with a Reflection?

The technique used on both these projects today is called "Reflection".  The first card features "The Open Sea" and the 2nd card features "Sheltering Tree".

You can use a window sheet or the plastic from our "Stamp-a-ma-jig" to accomplish this look. (pg. 176). Just stamp your image on the plastic, and then turn upside down.  Gently rub the wet ink onto your cardstock under another stamped image of the same design.  Add a little sponging for color and bingo-bango, you have a reflection!!  (If you don't understand what the heck I mean, please ask).

How do you like my new watermark added to both pics?  No, I'm not smart enough to figure this out by myself :(   I had another demo, Patsy Waggoner make it for me!  She also designed my blog awhile back when I needed a facelift.  Thank you SO much Patsy for all you did to help my blog look better!

The Open Sea and Four Feathers

Here are a couple more card displays from our Stamp Fair in Peoria IL.  (Don't worry, I will be running out of those soon) !  LOL

The first card features The Open Sea (pg. 131 Annual Catalog).  Also featured are the Starburst Framelit Dies (pg. 231- AC).  I love, love, LOVE the white bakers twine that the artist used around the whole Starburst Framelit!  Very cool indeed!  It makes me think of the Spirograph designs I used to make as a kid.  (I know I'm really dating myself here) :)

The second card features the Four Feathers Stamp Set shown on page 42 of the Holiday Mini.  The feathers were embossed on a silver foil sheet.  The Feathers Framelits Dies (pg. 42- HM) were used to cut out those 2 individual feathers.  NO "FUSSY CUTTING" REQUIRED!!  Gotta love it!

That's all for today then.  Please check back on Saturday (Oct. 11th) for my "Middle of the Month Markdowns"!!

Thanks- Lori Helvick

StampinUP- The Open Sea

I thought this card swap was very clever by making a "ship in a bottle".  This was another Late Night Stamper swap from Convention in July.  It was made by Pat of Gillette, WY.

CS colors used:  Vanilla, Natural Ivory, Soft Sky and Pacific Point.  The ship was embossed and she used the Early Espresso Bakers Twine.

The Open Sea stamp set is on page 101 in the AC and sells for $18.95 in clear mount.  The Happy Birthday stamp comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes. (a must have set!)

I hope you enjoy this very nice masculine birthday card idea.  STAMP HAPPY!-  Lori
