Blog Waddle w/ Stray Ducklings-- Showcasing Holiday/Winter products (Mistletoe Magic Bundle Featured Here)......

This creation was made for a class project featuring techniques.  "Faux Tile" is what this stamping technique is called and it's totally fun to do!!

Here are the basic steps:

1.  I cut the vanilla card stock 4 in. x 5 in. to make the scoring grid lines every 1 inch.

2.  Then you stamp all your images and the ink DOES not get in the grid lines which is the affect you are going for with this technique.

3.  Once you stamp and color etc., you want to apply the entire Versamark Pad all over your stamped images and grid lines.  (make sure your pad has some refill "goop" added before doing this)

4. RIGHT AFTER adding Versarmark, pour some Clear Embossing Powder over your paper.  Add plenty so the entire card has even coverage.

5.  Heat emboss using a Heat Tool so the paper is all shiny.

6.  Repeat with adding more Versamark coverage & a 2nd dose of powder.

7.  Heat set again to make the 2nd & final coat  "Shiny" !!

8.  Let paper cool a bit and then put under some heavy books to help flatten it out.  Use this beautiful "Faux Tile" creation to complete your finished card  :  )

I SHARE MY PASSION FOR STAMPS, INK & PAPER WITH A SPECIAL FLOCK OF LADIES CALLED THE "STAMPIN STRAY DUCKLINGS".  WHENEVER WE'RE TOGETHER, FEATHERS FLY BECAUSE OF ALL THE FUN WE HAVE!!

Joyful Flurry Bundle by StampinUP used today for 2 Christmas Cards

The colors used on this creation include:  White, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana and Pacific Point.

I did a fun technique using 3 different colors of Stampin Write Markers.  Simply colored each section of a big acrylic block & then spritzed it with 70% rubbing alcohol.  The colors will bleed a bit and make a cool background layer!

StampinUP products used include the following:

--Wintry 3D Embossing Folders

--Stampin' Write Markers

--Stampin' Spritzers

--Joyful Flurry Stamp Set

--Frosted Flurry Dies

--Rhinestone Jewels

My color combo here includes:  Smoky Slate, White, Bermuda Bay, Highland Heather

Versamark Ink & White Embossing Powder were used on this creation.  I worked with the same jewels, embossing folder, stamp set & dies.  Added some white bakers twine in a double bow.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.  I hope you were inspired and enjoyed todays post.  If you have  questions about anything, make sure to leave me a comment.  I'd love to hear from you.

Techniques 1 and 2 (Floating Frame Card & Faux Wood Burning)-- 2 Fun Projects

I used a window sheet for this creation.  Then simply added every other scrap pc. in a different color card stock (Parakeet Party & Orchid Oasis).  I used a Layering Circle die to cut out the center and then made this card.  The rest of the window sheet was decorated as well of course for a different look on a 2nd card.  Unfortunately, I sent out that other card without taking a picture-- duh!!  This was definitely my favorite of the 2 cards though, and it was nice to get 2 separate projects just by using the "Floating Frame" Technique.

Here is a list of StampinUP products used:

--Amazing Thanks Dies

--In Color Matte Dots

--Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder

For this card, I used the "Faux Wood Burning" Technique.  The Stamparatus was used to ink the flower and sentiment exactly in the same spot 3 different times.  After that, I used a Water Painter to bleed out the Early Espresso Ink a little bit.  Then the vanilla card stock dried just a smidge, and when it was still damp, I put the pc. thru the Timber 3D Embossing Folder for some texture.  Bingo Bango!!  A very simple technique and I totally "cased" this idea from demo Sharon Armstrong.

If you have any questions about either technique or the products used, please let me know.  Thanks very much for blogging by!!  Lori Helvick

Stitched Triangles Dies Featured Here with a Cool Technique!!

This was a recent class project and the gals liked learning a new little trick with the triangle dies!! (any shapes like circles, squares etc. will work for this technique).

I used a pc. of Vanilla card stock & turned the dies UPSIDE DOWN to emboss instead of cut!!  Cool huh?  You need to have an "Impression Mat" like is shown on pg. 153 in the Annual Catalog.  (you get 1 thick mat, and 1 thin mat so use which ever one works according to your own die cutting machine).  Make sure the impression mat is UNDERNEATH your die shapes!!  Make sure your die shapes are with the CUTTING SIDE UP!!  Then put a regular cutting plate on top.

You will end up with raised and embossed shapes on your card stock and then finish your card as you see fit.  Have you ever tried this before?  Please ask if you have questions.

Thank you very much for blogging by......LORI

A Couple Cool Cards that Feature the StampinUP Blending Brushes!!

For this masculine "camo-looking" card, we used the Bokeh Technique at a recent card class.  Color combo includes:  Evening Evergreen, Gray Granite, Soft Suede

StampinUP Supplies used include:

--Linen Thread
--Stitched Rectangle Dies
--Symmetrical Stems Border Punch
--Nature's Beauty Stamp Set
--Blending Brushes

As I mentioned, 4 different blending brushes were used here with 4 different ink colors (old olive, crushed curry, pumpkin pie, cajun craze)

The Daisy Garden big background stamp was used with Memento Black Ink before I colored the rainbow pattern with blending brushes.

It's pretty easy to apply ink with those brushes once you get past a slight "learning curve" !!

If you have any questions and or comments on either card, please let me know.  Thank you very much for checking in today on my blog--come back soon!  LORI

1 Fun Technique using StampinUP Blends = 3 Finished Card Creations!!

For all 3 of these cards, I played with my Stampin' Blends and 91% Isopropyl Alcohol-- SO fun!!  I simply "scribbled" different colors of my blends on vellum card stock.  Then I spritzed the vellum with the alcohol.  Also added some Wink of Stella for blotches of shimmer.

I think I used Rich Razzleberry and Magenta Madness on this version.  I can't remember where the sentiment came from (it's been awhile ago since I made these cards).

The Artistic Dies were used along with the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I used some Crinkled White Seam Binding for a simple bow also.

This card has the color combo of White, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight & Calypso Coral.  The stamped images including "thanks" come from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set.  Again, I used the Artistic Dies and the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I sort of CASED the very front cover of the Annual Catalog for this creation.  (the card that says hello-- switched a couple things including color scheme)

My last creation features the following color combo:

White, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo

Here are a few StampinUP products used:

--Penned Flowers Dies

--Painted Labels Dies

--Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

--Silver Epoxy Essentials

--Stampin' Blends

--Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set

Thank you very much for visiting my blog!!  Please come back again soon, and HAPPY STAMPING!!  Lori Helvick, StampinUP demo since 1999 and still loving my job  : )

Alcohol & Stampin Blend Technique on Vellum Cardstock (2 cards shown here)

I played with this technique at a stamping retreat the first part of August.  (just now getting around to sharing- sorry).  The top card is my personal favorite I think of the 5 or 6 that I made.  I love the fall colors of Stampin' Blends used along with the golden glitzy leaves!!

Here are a few StampinUP products used:

--Stitched Rectangle Dies

--Artistically Inked Stamp Set

--Stitched Leaves Dies

--Gold & Rose Gold 6 x 6 Metallic Specialty Paper

--Vellum Card Stock

--Stampin' Blends

--Metallic Pearls

(Recommend using Isopropyl Alcohol thats 90% or higher)

If you would like to give this technique a try, simply "scribble" the brush tip of stampin' blends in various colors.  Use a squirt bottle or spritzer to apply a little bit of alcohol.  Let the colors bleed a little but not much or it becomes to muddy looking.  On this creation, I added some Wink of Stella and "flicked" some pink specks from the stampin' blend as the vellum was drying.

I used the Scalloped Contours and Penned Flowers Dies.  The Biggest Wish stamp set was used with the colors of Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo.

If you have any questions about this technique, please ask.  I would be glad to walk you through it.  I had a lot of fun being "artsy" for sure with this!!  Thank you for blogging by.....LORI

Lovely You Stamp Set and Old World Paper Emboss Folder by StampinUP

This would be a very simple card layout to duplicate
if you like it?  Any embossing folder & circle punches/dies
would work!

Here is a list of StampinUP products I used:
--Retired Glitter Dots
--Rectangle Stitched Dies
--3 Different size Circle Punches
--Old World Paper 3D Emboss Folder
--Stampin Write Markers
--Lovely You Stamp Set

Color Combo Includes:
Just Jade, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight,
Vanilla, Soft Sea Foam and Sahara Sand (words)

I inked up the embossing folder with Just Jade
BEFORE running the paper & folder thru the Big Shot.
Those crinkle lines really are defined with the ink on there
like that-- don't you think?

If you have any questions about this card or the
technique I used, please let me know.

Butterfly Wishes from the Annual Catalog is NOT Retiring......Check out this Featured Card!!

Color Combo for my card today includes:
Vanilla, Soft Suede, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Soft Sea Foam

I used the "thumping" technique on the small butterflies.
Here is what you do for that:
--Use Coastal Cabana ink pad & stamp off one time to make
the ink lighter but don't stamp image for real yet.
--Then you take a Calypso Coral Stampin Write Marker &
thump little spots on top of the Cabana ink.
--NOW, you can stamp "for real" & the butterflies show
up with 2-tone coloring.  Cool huh?

Here are some StampinUP Products used:
--Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder
--Arts & Crafts Dies
--Butterfly Duet Punch
--Botanical Tags Dies
--Stitched So Sweetly Dies
--Timeless Tulips (greeting)
--Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels
(I fussy cut the 3 small flowers)

Ok, that is all I know right now!
I appreciate you stopping by & please let
me know what you think of
Lori's Stampin Creation for today.....

FUN MAIL- PART #3 (Annual posts w/ the hand-stamped B-Day Cards I Recd)

This is the "Floating Frame" technique made by Sue B.
I have not tried this yet, but have seen some beautiful cards made
with that concept (Sue's card being one of them)!!

Tina F. sent me this fun and whimsical card made with the Pandas.
Still love the cuteness of this stamp set!!

Butterfly birthday wishes came from Marty C.
She used the Rectangle Stitched Dies along with the
ever-popular butterfly paper from Sale-A-Bration!

June B. sent a late birthday card so apologized for that.
Most of my cards I sent out lately have been late too, so no worries at all  : )

This fun-fold card was made by Ida P.

I opened up this card a bit so you could see the fold.

Shown from a top view, so you can figure out the fold maybe.

Thank you, thank you, one and all for all the Birthday texts, FB posts, and
cards I have recd this past week.  Of course, I have gotten
some Hallmark cards from folks as well, but since I'm in the "biz"
I will only be showing the hand stamped ones!!   : )

I appreciate you visiting.....Lori

To A Wild Rose Stamp Set with Whitewashing Technique

This was a project for a technique class a few months back--
(can't find where I ever posted it on my blog but if so, I apologize).

Anyway, this process is fairly easy to do.....
1) I used Versamark to stamp the images & sentiment.
2) Then applied white powder & embossed w/ heat gun.
3) Next step is to use an aqua painter dipped in Craft White Pad.
(just keep painting white on flower & leaves until desired white color)
4) Let air dry or heat set to dry.
5) Next comes the red and green colors using the same painting
idea w/ aqua painter in the 2 ink pads.
6) This dries pretty quickly & then blot excess water off with paper towel.

Hope this makes sense, but if you have any questions just ask.
Thanks for blogging by.....Lori

Dashing Deer from StampinUP (with Alcohol Marker Marbling)

I tried several times to get a better picture of my card & it was not working!!
On the left side, glossy white cardstock was used so the "shiny" pc. was the problem.
At any rate, I used 3 different colors of Stampin' Blends for a technique @ class.
I have instructions for the "Alcohol Marker Marbling" if you are interested in that.
Let me know please..... and this card is much prettier in person  : )

Display board sample-- designer unknown.
I LOVE the Dashing Deer stamp set and matching
thinlit dies from the Holiday Catalog!!  (pg. 9)
I have seen SO many great ideas for Christmas cards already
with those, and its not even Nov. yet!!

If I can help you in anyway with supplies or ideas
for YOUR Christmas cards, I'm on it-- just say the word  : )
I appreciate your support of my StampinUP business....
